Announcing iCaltrain for iPhone
I’ve been commuting on Caltrain for the last few months, and have always wanted to look up the schedule on my cell phone. I finally got around to spend some time putting it together for the iPhone using the iUI. Simply point your iPhone to iCaltrain.com and you will see the app. Safari users can test drive it at iCaltrain.com/iphone.php.
iCaltrain Features:
- Easy access to reverse trip schedule for the return trip.
- Remembers the last search performed for those frequent trips.
Coming next:
- Mobile web version for those without the iPhone.
- Show only the next trains instead of the full schedule.

You must be god, because you’ve answered my prayers. My solution, up until I found this wonderful page you maid, had been to store screenshots of the Caltrain schedule PDF in my iPhotos. This iPhone “app” is so much sexier. Thank you!

this is awesome! Thanks so much for your work. Is there any way you could add a link on the main screen of your app to an image of the Zone Map? That would be a nice addition.
Thanks again!

feature request:
Lightly shade the limited (yellow) and bullet (red) trains on the results page

I would like to see the To/From lists be in the order of the stations’ locations instead of alphabetical order so that I can easily determine possible station options (since I don’t necessarily know the order/location of the stations by heart)

Very nice!
Here’s a feature suggestion: be able to touch a train entry and have that generate an alert (or whatever its called — something that will remind me 10 minutes before the train so I will get out the door!).

Awesome site. Can you add fares? I travel to Japan a lot and there they can see an update of upcoming trains to specific station. Think GPS tied to real time train status/schedule. Probably lot of work but would be extremely useful. Not sure if Caltrain even has real time status information.

this is great site! thanks a lot!
quick question: would it be possible to mark express, baby-bullet and local trains with small dots or different colors?

Hey Mike, thanks for iPhone app, a great addition to your next upate would be to link the train number to a separate window that sows the next 5 stops. I have had issues where the two digit number is the same for different trains headed on the same track. This would be very useful when people like me get on the wrong train. Keep up the good work.

@Rob, I’ll add fare info in the next iCaltrain update. Thanks for the feedback.
Caltrain doesn’t currently provide GPS or real time arrival times, though they’ve announced plans to do so.
